30 March 2021

I found this shirt on line today.  I did not buy it, though was tempted.

Interestingly, the sizes they give are all for men.  Not a single women's size.  I guess nobody thinks a woman would want to buy a Judy Garland shirt.

So cannabis is not the magic formula.  I tried it again last night and this time took my cell phone into the living room with me so I could check how long I slept, but I could not get to sleep at all.  I went to the couch at 11:30 and when I checked the time (having tried to get to sleep), it was 3.  I finally got up at 4 and watched TV for an hour and then went back to sleep and was able to sleep from 5 to 8.  Three hours.

Ned decided maybe I should try liquid.  Fortunately, Marta had that too.  He told me to put the liquid under my tongue and hold it there for a minute and then swallow (not as delicious as the cannabis gummies were!)

I wasn't sure it was going to work, when I didn't seem to be going to sleep quickly enough (though at one point, I felt like I was sinking into sleep and wondered if this is what it felt like to die.

But I did indeed fall asleep and when I woke up at the time that would ordinarily be 2 a.m., I checked by phone and it was 4:15!  I went back to sleep fairly quickly and when I woke up again it was 6:30 Usually by 6:30 I have letters written, this journal finished, coffee drunk and breakfast eaten.  But I had slept until 6:30.

When I got up I was dizzy and I almost didn't get up at all, waiting for Ned to come downstairs so I could call and have him help me, but I was so incredibly thirsty that I finally had to get up.  I stood up and then sat down in a nearby chair until my head cleared and then walked down to the kitchen, steadying myself on the walls.

I fed Polly and then staggered to the recliner and I slept a bit there too.  When Ned made coffee I had him bring me a cup because I was still a bit dizzy, but after about half a cup of coffee, the dizziness was gone.

I'm not going to take anything tonight and just see how things go after a normal (sort of) night of sleep. I really am not interested in regularly taking anything to help me sleep at night, but I have to admit that it was quite nice to be able to do it last night!
