Today in My History
Doing the Best I Can
Cast (updated 7/16)

When I sleep in the recliner, I wake up looking out the window at the sky lightening up each morning. It's always a light-ish grey, but yesterday morning it was red.
It did eventually become lighter, but I went back to the couch to go to sleep around 9 a.m. and when I woke up at noon, I checked Facebook and saw all sorts of people posting photos of what it looks like where they live.
Char posted a video of the ash on her porch.
Perhaps the most impressive photo was from Stephen Peithman in Marin County. . This is from the newspaper in Marin County, at 9:15 a.m.
This is the picture that most represents what it's like in California from all the fires. Again, this was taken around 9 a.m. in San Francisco.
Sandy promised to send me photos from my mother's birthday, and he did. I appreciate his going out of his way to take photos of her for me, but I have to admit he's not the best photographer in the world. He said she had a good day playing with the dogs. I guess there was nothing "birthday looking" happening that day, though for her it doesn't really matter.
But the birthday is over and I'm angry with The Today Show. I sent them her photo last year for her 100th birthday and this year for her 101st and she never made it to the jam jar wishing those celebrating 100+ birthdays. She'll just have to live to 102.
