For those who celebrate Christmas #1
Taken from Pinterest
What’s your favorite thing about the holidays?
Getting the family all together. That is what I will miss this year.
Do you send out Christmas cards and if so how many do you send?
I haven't sent a CARD in more than 40 years. I used to send >100 but the
postage just got too high. Now I design a Christmas letter, post it on
line, and send an e-mail with a personal note to everyone on my list. (I
also link to it on this journal page all month)
Be honest: holiday newsletters. Love ‘em or hate ‘em?
Obviously I love them. Some are great, some are boring, but all show the
work of the writer, who wants to share information with his/her friends.
The boring ones I don't read, but I appreciate them anyway.
Be honest: photo cards. Love ‘em or hate ‘em?
Love 'em. Like the letters, they show the family. They are better
than a card with a printed name on it and no note whatever. Not worth the
price of a stamp, IMO.
How soon do you start shopping?
December 26. Seriously. I shop for Christmas all year long.
Real or fake tree?
I prefer a fake tree, but some years it's more work than it's worth -- like this
year. This year we have a 4' artificial tree, which is just fine for the
of us.
When do you put up your tree?
A week or so after Thanksgiving
When do you take down your tree?
January 6.
Describe your typical tree (size, decorations, type)
As said above, this year we have a 4' artificial tree. All of our
ornaments are "special," acquired (bought or gift) to symbolize something.
Like our "necropsy ornaments," all of which memorialize either our dead dogs or
our dead kids. As a now non-working theater critic, I bought this ornament
for our tree this year.

What do you top your tree with?
When we have a real tree we have a lovely Santa that goes on the top -- lots of
gold. This year we have a home-made star that Marta made many years ago.

Do you put Christmas lights
outside your house?
Ned bought some lights to wrap around the trunk of our tree outside this year.

Is there a wreath hanging on your
door?
Yes
Do you hang up stockings?
Not to be filled, but I just discovered Ned put these up today.

Your favorite Christmas Movie(s)
Miracle on 34th St and White Christmas
Be honest: A Christmas movie you hate
It's a Wonderful Life
Favorite Christmas Song(s)
"Silver Bells," "The
Grassy Knoel"
Be honest: If I hear this/these
Christmas songs again I will throw up
Well "throw up" is a bit extreme, but I will be happy if I don't have to hear
"Feliz Navidad" ever again.
