Hi! Welcome to Sunday Stealing. This feature originated and published on WTIT: The Blog. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. (Past hosts include: Our first - Judd Corizan, Mr. L, Kwizgiver and Bud) Cheers to all of us thieves!

Stolen from the book Summery Questions

1. Favorite thing to do during the summer?
Don't have any favorite summer activities.  Mostly stay inside where there is a/c, I guess!

2. Favorite cold food/dessert/drink that gets you through the summer heat?
Ice cream

3. Gone to a drive-in movie
Not in many years, but we went frequently when I was a kid.  There was a drive-in here in Davis, but it only showed porn. . The screen faced away from the freeway.

4. What are you planning to do this summer?
See question #1

5. Did the pandemic ruin any summer plans? If so, what?
We always go to Santa Barbara in July to celebrate our son's birthday.  We have a big BBQ on the beach where he and Walt's sister's husband cook hundreds of dollars worth of meat and fish and about 40-60 friends come and bring side dishes.  This year we aren't going because of COVID (Ned finally tested negative today, Walt and Marta are finally negative and I never tested positive)

6. Rode on any water mobile (jetski, ferry, boat, etc)
ferry, river boat, cruise ship, sail boat

7. Gone to a summer camp
It was my dream to go to summer camp when I was a kid, but my parents couldn't afford it, so I never did.

8. Been to any Asian country (if not, where would you go and why? if yes, where was your favorite?)
We've been to China on a cruise and I've been in a Korean airport on my way home from Australia.  My favorite thing in China was going to the Chongqing Zoo, where we got to see pandas and our trip down the Li River.

9. Been to any African country (if not, where would you go and why? if yes, where was your favorite and why?)
I have always wanted to go to an African country to see the animals, but we never have because of the expense and Walt's lack of interest.  I would love to go to Kenya and visit the Sheldrick Wild Life Trust, which rescues orphan elephants and rhinos.

Elephant fact:  The average car weighs 4000 lbs. and the average one story home is 8 ft. tall. The largest elephant on record was an adult male African elephant. He weighed about 24,000 lbs. and was 13 ft. tall at the shoulder. Elephants are the largest land-living mammals in the world.

10. Been to any North American country (if not, where would you go and why? if yes, where was your favorite and why?)
Well, I live in North America.  We've also been to Canada and to Tijuana, Mexico.  Didn't much care for Tijuana, but I have enjoyed Canada.  We spent our honeymoon in Jasper and Banff national parks.

11. Been to any South American country (if not, where would you go and why? if yes, where was your favorite and why?)
No.  I would love to go to Brasil because we have so many friends  there (though not nearly as many now as we did in the 80s).  Ned lived in Rio de Janeiro for a year when he was in high school and Tom spent a summer in Sao Paulo.

12. Been to any Australian country (if not, where would you go and why? if yes, where was your favorite and why?)
This is a strange question.  What is an "Australian country" other than Australia?  I was in Western Australia in 2003 and spent 6 weeks with a friend there.  Never did get to East Australia, where most people go.

13. Gone to a festival/fair
Not lately, but we used to go to the county fair with kids and once or twice to the state fair.

14. Gone to an amusement park
Sure.  The biggest was Disneyland, where we have been many times.  (It's WAY too expensive now)

15. Binge watched 5 different TV show series (what were they)
Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife, The Sopranos, The Crown, The Queen's Gambit and many more.  I just found The West Wing on HBO and will be watching that.

The liars who changed this country's history
in women's health, gun control, and climate change
before going on vacation.
