1 JulY 2022

My favorite photos for June.

With everything that has been going on this month, I completely forgot that we were looking at the 4th of July weekend.

This is the weekend where we go to Santa Barbara for a few days to celebrate Tom's birthday, July 5.  For the past ?30 years he and Walt's sister's husband have spent hundreds of dollars on all sorts of meats (tri tip, hamburger, chicken, shrimp, sometmes lamb, sausage, etc.) and barbeque it at one of the big barbeques at Santa Barbara beach.

They invite everyone they know and usually 40-60 people show up with side dishes and we are there for the whole afternoon.  My favorite thing is that there is always music.  This is my favorite photo from last year.

We've started talking about our trip this year.  Walt wants to drive down on Sunday because he doesn't want to drive on Saturday.  I said we'd have to come home on Tuesday because Marta will have to work.  Walt wasn't too happy with such a short visit, but agreed that would be best.

So we sat down at dinner the other night and Marta said we had to talk about something sad.  She said she had spoken with Alice Nan (Walt's sister) and none of the Santa Barbara people were happy with us coming to stay with them for several days.  Walt had only been negative for a day and we expected Ned would test negative today and that was just too close to everyone's positive days.

We were sad, but agreed that was probably a good idea.  In fact, I had been somewhat uncomfortable going down there so close to our COVID "recovery."

So no Santa Barbara trip this year.

And this morning Ned tested positive again, so we wouldn't have gone anyway.
