Title ::  "Tell No One"

We are having such fun with the squirrels today.  It's been about a year since our "friendly squirrels" disappeared and we have been watching two or three squirrels racing across the yard chasing each other, but coming nowhere near the patio.  If we open the door to the patio, they run away and hide.

But now we have two or three squirrels who are interested in the squirrel house and one, whom Marta has named "Fatboy Slim" who has learned to come to the door and beg and while not particularly comfortable doing it, will take nuts from someone's hand.  The sliding glass door now has lots of paw prints on it again.

This morning there were two squirrels in the squirrel house, and they didn't seem to be fighting, but perhaps one was trying to mate with the other.  We later saw the two of them lying together on the balcony outside the house.

While they were snuggling together, Fatboy was in the tree watching Ned trying to take pictures of the couple on the house.

I've decided Fatboy is like a cartoon squirrel.  I've compared pictures of our older squirrels and while the Photo of the Day may look like they look the same, when you examine them carefully, they don't.  Fatboy has smaller, rounder ears and a smaller nose.  When you look at him, he just seems softer and rounder than the others and whenver I look at him, he reminds me of a cartoon.

I am hoping that they will start building a nest (since they have probably mated in the house) and we can watch babies grow.  But it took them 2-3 years to feel comfortable nesting in our bird house, so it might not be this season, but a later season before we start seeing babies in the house.
