PINATA LUNCH

13 October 2021

Daughter Jeri's godmother Jeri and her husband Phil (yes we have Jeri & Phil and Jeri & Phil) live in Arizona, but spend much  time traveling around the country to see their kids and grandkids.  Which means that in the fall, they are in California visiting Jeri's son Kevin, who lives near Sacramento and we always get together for lunch while they are here.  This is our Pinata group, who have been friends since the 1960s.

Generation 1,  Pinata group

Today was a special treat because Jeri's son Liam came, as did Ned.  They probably haven't seen each other for five years and I loved listening to them getting caught up.

(Ned is growing his winter beard)

The thing that is so wonderful about the Pinata Group of 18 kids is that they grew up like siblings, living so close together, doing everything together, and when they see each other again it's like they just saw each other the week before.  Here they are when we got together to celebrate the 40th birthday of five of them, in 2006

Over lunch Char told me that she has just about finished the book she has been writing about her life.  I've read a lot of it and I'm looking forward to seeing it when it is finished.  She she told me that we need to write a book about the Pinata Group.  I've been thinking that for a long time.  It's such a unique thing and the Generation 3 kids have no clue what it was like when their parents were growing up

So that's our project for 2022.  We are going to write a Pinata Group book.  I'm looking forward to it.  I've wanted to do it for so long and with Char pushing me, I know we will get it done.
