26 November 2021

It was a good, if quiet Thanksgiving.  No family Zoom sessions this year, but we did chat with Tom and with Jeri.

Ned and Marta arrived home from Tahoe around 9 a.m., which was wonderful because Ned was such a big help. I had made pumpkin pie the night before. I got the turkey in the oven at 11:30.  Marta needed to be on a Zoom session in the evening, so had requested an early dinner.

In the afternoon, I made an hors d'oeuvre, a recipe from the Pioneer woman....

Put a bowl on a tray and then arrange crescent rolls around it.  Put cranberry sauce and chunks of bri on it, remove the bowl.

Sprinkle with rosemary and fold the rolls over the filling.  Brush with egg, add more rosemary and then bake.

It was delicious...but then isn't anything with melted brie delicious?

When the cranberry appetizers were finished, we settled in to watch this week's Survivor.  It's one of the programs we watch together each week and Ned and Marta were at Lake Tahoe this week.

While the turkey cooked, Ned turned my simple little turkey dinner into a Thanksgiving feast.

I figured out how to make stuffing for all of us.  Walt and Marta won't eat onions and Ned and I love them, so I made the stuffing without onions, then took out a bowl full and added onions to the rest.  We all loved our stuffing.

After Marta's Zoom meeting, we served pumpkin pie, Ned and Walt cleaned up the kitchen, and the dogs loved being able to lick the pans.

I planned to read the Outlander book all evening, but there was an Outlander marathon on TV and I ended up watching that instead.
