6 July 2021

My friend Kathleen and I had our monthly lunch yesterday.  We had just had a lunch a couple of weeks a go, but her July was pretty full, so we had to choose an early date for our July lunch.

We went back to the Black Bear restaurant and learned that a holiday is not the best day to go out for lunch.  The restaurant is usually pretty empty (especially now) but there was a waiting list when I got there.

And Kathleen called to say there was so much traffic on the freeway that she was significantly delayed.  A section of the freeway which she usually gets to in 20 minutes or so took her an hour because of traffic.

But we did eventually get to sit, and got our favorite back booth, which is away from everyone and is a great place to sit and just chat.

I usually order something like eggs Benedict, but I wasn't all that hungry, so just got a waffle.  I was glad I did.  It was a fun waffle.

And it was just the perfect size lunch for me.

We decided that things must be going well in the country, simce we only briefly mentioned Trump and didn't talk politics at all, but mostly discussed television.

While we were at lunch, I got a text message from Sandy at Eldervilla with a photo of my mother, who had been to Kaiser for her first physical therapy appointment that morning.  I haven't seen her with a smile like that in years!

It was Tom's 51st birthday so after dinner Ned set up a camera and we recorded a happy birthday song for him.

And then I turned on The Mole, which someone on Facebook recommended.  It's a Survivor-like show, hosted by Anderson Cooper in 2001.  I loved it and watched four episodes.

Apparently there were five seasons of it, so I have a lot more shows to watch.  I like it better than Survivor.

Lacie knocked it out of the park with
individual berry crumbles for the birthday boy’s dessert.
