THE MESS 8 January 2021 I've been glued to the TV for the better part of two days. I often found myself in tears, as I watched the rioters destroying the offices of the representatives.
This guy is sitting in Pelosi's office. He says it's not HER desk, it's HIS desk and he has just loaned it to her. He claims he left a 'quarter' in payment for a letter he took from the Speaker's office. Watching the coverage last night I often felt moved to tears and when I watched Colbert, whose anger was palpable made me cry. Watching film of the destruction in the capital made me sick to my stomach.
Apparently they took fire extinguishers and sprayed them all over the floors. This evening I saw a film from #45 saying how disgusted he is by the activities. But if you watch the speech he gave to the rioters before they went to the capital he encouraged what happened. He said today that he had quickly called the national guard, but he never did. In fact he resisted calling them. Pence had to call the national guard. When many people in the administration (including Betsy DeVos) resigned because of his encouragement of the riot, he had to come up with a speech that sounded like he was so upset by it all. More lies. [I read somewhere that after his term ends he will turn all of his papers over to the Trump Liebrary]
It just added to my uneasy stomach the more I watched. In
fact, I had an egg for breakfast and then was not able to eat the rest of the
day.
Now to see if I can sleep tonight. Someone suggested (facetiously) that I consider becoming an alcoholic and that might make me sleep better. Having come from a long line of alcoholics on both sides of the family, I think insomnia isn't all that bad. |
