to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9
questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other
times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random
questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and
leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate
rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
1) Paul McCartney sings that he won't let a day go by without remembering why he loves his valentine. What blessings are you thankful for today?
Today? hmmm. Ned and Marta just left for a week at Lake
Tahoe but before they left, Ned filled the house with food and supplies for us
so we don't have to worry about anything, and left the number of someone to call
if we need help. I am very thankful for Ned today.
I'm pretty good with romance languages, less good on other
languages. I can speak halting French and more halting Portuguese. I can
read some Italian and Spanish. I'm not good on German or Chinese.
I'd love to learn sign language.
One of my pen pals told me that my letters make her feel happy
and that she found them interesting.
I did many years ago, but I don't think I do now.
I'm going to choose my friend Shelly. Her wife Ellen died a year ago, and before she developed dementia, the two of them were involved in every community issue in Davis (and I'm not sure but they may have won an city-wide award). They fought for marriage equality for years, traveling around the country. They were married in San Francisco and had their marriage disqualified and then were the first gay couple married in Yolo County, 5 minutes after it became legal (they were together 46 years). They worked with Meals on Wheels. they started a holiday dinner for the homeless or anybody who has nobody to have a holiday meal with. They began Yolo County Gay Pride Day.
From Ellen's obituary (she and Shelly were involved in all the same activities): “Ellen was an avid volunteer for Davis Community Meals, the Mondavi Center (as an usher), Compassion & Choices, active in protesting the Iraq war, marched with Code Pink for International Women’s Day, and fought for disability rights, along with many other causes.”
Gavin Newsom invited the couple to speak at the state Democratic Convention in 2014, and they were featured in a Hillary Clinton campaign video in 2015.
This is the last Saturday 9 before Valentine's Day and so this
morning we shall focus on the upcoming holiday.
No. I'm planning a special meal for February 17, my
I made and sent a Valentine to my mother.
I love roses (especially if they have a smell, which most florist shop roses do not), carnations, and daisies.
