This is a series of questions I answer occasionally at the end of
the year. Some answers stay the same, others are quite different.
First things first, did you have a good year?
Pretty much the same as last year. I quarantined myself most of the year
so everything was good and quiet.
What was your favorite article of clothing this year?
I live in t-shirts and either pants or pj bottoms (the latter of which are most
comfortable!)
Did an actor/actress catch your attention for the first time
this year?
I discovered The Good Doctor this year and have been binging the 5
seasons that have been shown. I have enjoyed Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun
Murphy.
Favorite new TV show?
The Morning Show on Apple+
Did you get a pet?
No. Two dogs is enough, but we had all these squirrels who came to our
door to get treats and we watched a litter of babies grow up and go off on
their own. That was like having pets. (Though our squirrel pets have
probably died. We still have two running around in the yard, but they are
afraid of us)
Did you develop a new obsession?
The Good Doctor. I've just finished with Season 4 and have one
season left to go. I believe it's been renewed for Season 6.
What was one nice thing you did
for yourself?
In May I attended a ZOOM Webinar on Judy Garland. And I bought myself
an AirFryer, which I love.
Do you regret not doing anything?
I regret not hosting a big family dinner for Christmas, but situations made it
impossible.
Do you regret doing something?
I regret waiting so long between visits with my mother, but it's so difficult to
visit with her, I keep putting it off.
Have you done anything that scared you?
I can't think of anything specific that I did t hat scared me, other than riding
on the freeway. That has scared me for about 30 years now, so I almost
always read while someone else is driving.
Did you lose anyone close to you?
We knew a few people who died this year. The death of my friend Ann MacNab,
co-founder of The Lamplighters was a very sad loss.
Did anyone/thing make you so mad
it stayed with you for days?
I have previously answered this question with "Donald Trump." Now that
Biden is in the White House, Trump doesn't make me as angry as he used to, but
he still does stuff that makes me furious. And I'm most angry that he will
probably never get any punishment for the crimes he has committed.
If you could have a do over on one thing you did, would you
take it?
COVID has made life very boring for me. I can't think of anything I would
like to do over.
What was the best moment of the year for you?
Going to Santa Barbara in July to celebrate Tom's birthday -- we couldn't do it
in 2020 because of the pandemic.
What was the worst?
Watching the mess in D.C. on January 6
What are you most proud of accomplishing?
Continuing to correspond with the 18 Compassion children that I have sponsored.
Fred, from the Philippines has been with me the longest. I started writing
to him in June of 2009l
What have you learned about yourself this year that you didn’t
know in the years prior?
How much I am tired of reviewing shows. After a year of no theater, I almost was
sad to see some theaters starting up again, though now I am only reviewing
locally, so won't be doing 50 shows a year in 2022.
What do you wish for others for the coming year?
Health and Happiness.
