20 December 2021

Ned and Marta have hosted a Christmas party every year for many years.  We've never gone, but they have hors d'oeuvres, and karaoke and gift exchanges.  Many friends come, including most of the Lawsuit gang.

They didn't have it the year they moved in here, for obvious reasons, and last year, of course, nobody was having parties.  This year Ned decided to host the party again.

He invited some  50 people.  But they didn't want to have a big face-to-face party, so it was a ZOOM party.  It was a great idea.  They could have guests from all over the country and even from foreign countries.

Their friend Ish, who was in Lawsuit, now lives in Japan and he took his cell phone out into his neighborhood to show people where he lives.  Joel lives in Singapore and was "at the party" too, as were Jeri and Phil from Boston.

Ned was able to include Walt in the festivities by showing him the group on his phone.

Everyone had to have their own food for the party, of course, but Ned made bread dip, guacamole and tortellini salad, enough for a house full of guests.  We had his hors d'oeuvres for dinner that night and the next night.  (He makes fabulous bread dip.)

Ned had set up a karaoke stage in the garage in case any people showed up in person.  Four did and they had a good time singing karaoke.

Ned set up his camera on his bike and rode off to his friend Jessica's house so she could be part of the ZOOM.

I don't know how manhy people were ultimately involved in the party -- not 50, but enough -- but I never heard a thing through the whole evening.

They can't really have aa real party here because my "bed" is right in the middle of where the party would be being held, so I don't know what is going to happen next year, but it seems like for a pandemic party, this one was pretty good.
