Yesterday Ned had his camera with him when there were three squirrels peeking out of the bird house.

I saw a strange squirrel in the afternoon.  I was sorry I didn't have my camera with me.  He was walking away and it was definitely a "he."  He had two black-ish balls the size of large peas.  I have never seen that before!

This is a picture of my grandmother holding my father, 1914.

There are very few pictures of her at this age and the story has been that she hated having children.  After he was born, she and my grandfather got separate beds because she wasn't going to risk ever becoming pregnant again.

They had a strange relationship throughout his life and my mother swears that he killed her.  Not really, but she was not well and he spent a night yelling at her and telling he everything bad she had ever done to him.

She died two days later.

This is my mother, holding me at probably the same age my father is in the earlier photo.

We lived in a flat on Leavenworth street.  Our flat was on the street floor,  but this was taken on the roof of the flat, looking out over San Francisco Bay.
