I'VE BEEN SHOT
October 7, 2020
NOTE TO EVERYBODY: I don't know why but whenever you post a comment, it looks like it posts twice. If you leave Funny the World and then come back, you'll see that the comment is only there once. I don't have a clue how that happened -- or why. Also, be aware that your comment doesn't show up until I have seen and approved it, so if you think your comment didn't post, it actually did. That also was something that happened without my knowledge, but it's probably a good idea.
Walt and I had our big day this morning. We drove to Kaiser to get our flu shots. Woohoo! It has been so long since I've ridden through downtown Davis it was like going thru a new city. All the familiar businesses shut down, new businesses opened, restaurants with tables set up in their parking lots, few people, everyone with a mask. Very strange.
I did get to stand in the sun, briefly, while waiting for my turn to get my shot. I've been realizing that I haven't been in the sun in literally months. I need to start taking Vitamin D. I would sit outside and read, but since the temps are in the mid to high 90s, that's not something I want to do, but I did enjoy the few minutes of sun this morning.
We came home and it was time for my daily nap. I slept for an hour until awakened by the regular call I get from some Chinese recording. I was going to get up, but was still so sleepy I went into the living room and slept for another hour. I guess I'm getting caught up on sleep.
I woke up in time to listen to Ned's show, this week a celebration of Breaking Bad. Good music. I watch Breaking Bad all the time because Ned has it on whenever he's working in the kitchen, but I'd never really noticed the music before. It's an interesting hour.
I've added my mother as a new pen pal. I decided I could write her simple letters, big print, and easy subjects and include a picture of me so she knows who is writing. Sandy sent me this photo of her reading my letter. She's even wearing her glasses, which makes it easier for her to read. I'm going to write to her a couple of times a week -- letters or post cards. I just sent her a post card from The Wizard of Oz. A new challenge for me, which will keep me close(r) to my mother while I can't see her.
I haven't felt like writing in the last couple of days and they have been wonderful days for receiving mail, so now I have a lot to answer which will keep me busy for the next couple of days.
Today I received an 8 page letter from a very unhappy woman. She is older than I am, living alone, and having problems with her family, but this is a very, very depressing letter. I almost feel like I need to talk her out of suicide. Very strange letter.
I also had a letter from a woman who has had some sort of problem that makes it impossible for her to write, so her husband writes for her, and he doesn't write well....a brief scrawl over one small sheet of paper. But it gives me a chance to write to his wife.
Having a lot of pen pals is interesting. I just got a note
from probably the only man I will write to. He's a pastor from Wisconsin
and his profile sounds interesting, though I generally don't write to men.
He was matched up with me on a post card exchange and when I read his profile I
thought I'd agree to write to him. See if this "born again, preacher at
16" guy and this recovering Catholic can find some things to talk about.
