OCTOBER SURPRISE

October 2, 2020

According to the Washington Post, as of July 2020, It took President Trump 827 days to top 10,000 false and misleading claims in The Fact Checker’s database, an average of 12 claims a day.

But on July 9, just 440 days later, the president crossed the 20,000 mark — an average of 23 claims a day over a 14-month period, which included the events leading up to Trump’s impeachment trial, the worldwide pandemic that crashed the economy and the eruption of protests over the death of George Floyd in police custody.

So it is not surprising that I am skeptical about whether or not he and Melania actually have tested positive for COVID-19.  His pattern has been that whenever things are going badly for him, he creates a scenario that grabs the headlines and what better way to stop people talking about the terrible debates and his refusal to condemn white supremacists than to suddenly be tested positive for COVID-19.  He now has to quarantine for 14 days, which means, of course, there can't be any more debates.  It's entirely too convenient.

It's not that I haven't been praying for this to happen.  I don't want him to die, I just want him to be very sick so he can understand what the 7+ million people who have been diagnosed with it have been going through, many of them guests at his rallies, following his guidance that wearing masks is unnecessary.

Can you imagine how lovely it would be to have him be on a ventilator and unable to talk??

What if Pence tests positive and he, too, has to quarantine?  Do you think either of them would let Nancy Pelosi  take over as temporary president.  Now wouldn't THAT be funny!

He's old and he's fat and he probably has diabetes (though nobody would tell us).  He's the perfect candidate for coronavirus.  Please, please let him start showing some symptoms.

This comment is pretty much what everyone on Facebook has been saying:  Something feels fishy. We're all relying on the truth of Donald Trump's tweet that he has COVID? The only other source is a letter from his White House doctor, but his doctors have lied before. I think we need more documentation and reliable sources. I may be wrong, but he might be trying to get out of the debates and looking for a sympathy vote on Nov 3rd. I wouldn't put it past him.

As he is fond of saying, "we'll see what happens," but I'm not ready to 100% believe him.

This is a good day.  I have four letters (and an email) to answer, all of which are good, long letters.  Some people write brief notes, but these writers are good writers with interesting things to say, interesting things to share, and are a delight to answer.  They are the people that make me smile when I see an envelope from them in my mailbox!

I have also made my own return address labels (because my 1,000 free return address labels from various organizations wanting my money aren't enough, dontcha know!).  I have squirrel return address labels for ME and also from Grandma, and I just made October return address labels with a pumpkin.  Not showing are the great labels I made for Polly to send to Bri and Lacie's dog, but they have moved since then, so those labels aren't good any more.

As I write this, today (October 1) is World Postcard day and I sent out a few postcards, including a Wizard of Oz postcard to the cancer patient I write to.  I also set aside a Wicked Witch of the West pc to send to someone when we get closer to Halloween.

And I finished my "please vote" letters, so I've done my bit, albeit a small bit, for the upcoming election.
