More questions from Facebook

1. What's your favorite movie from your childhood and why?
As a little kid, Bambi.  Just loved all the characters.  As an older kid, A Star Is Born, which I saw when I was 10 and which changed my life.

2. What is home to you?
Somewhere with all of the family around me.  But also, when I see San Francisco in the distance on a clear day I know I'm going home, even though I would not like to live there any more.

3. Do you get emotionally invested in stories? (I'm asking about movies, books, tv shows, whatever medium you like your stories in.)
Oh my yes.  Heard of "Outlander" ??

4. What is the most physical damage you've ever received without needing medical intervention (so no stitches or splints or anything)?
I broke a toe by dropping a frozen roast on it.  Didn't see the doctor.

5. How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Ask the sphinx.

6. Do you have any obsessions? Like Tv shows, or cats or something. Not addictions.
Good lord, what is an obsession that isn't an addiction?  Outlander is an obsession, but probably also an addiction.

7. What question or question would you like God to answer?
Who did He vote for in 2016?

8. Do you bite your nails?
One of the few bad habits I do NOT have.  My sister was a nail biter, I was a thumb sucker.

9. What do you like about the place you live, I mean your housing, apt, house, mobile home, etc
I like living in a 2 story house, because the downstairs is always cool (especially now ath Ned & Marta have to have the a/c lower in order to cool the upstairs).  I also like that when we had it built, I had an office built off of the family room for me.  I live in my office during the day.  I love my office, cluttered though it is.

10. What do you like about the city or town where you live?
This is a friendly town with fun things like a farmers market, several theaters, and a toad town built by the father of the postmaster.  And then there is this streaming on the local radio station.

11. Is there one place you have visited that you wish you could live there?
Of all the places we have visited, the places where I felt I could live are Portland, Ireland, and London, but I don't wish to live in any of them.  I'm happy here.

12. What's your favorite cookie to snack on?
Snickerdoodles, which is why I rarely make them.

13. Are you a Apple person or PC type person and why?
I am a PC person because the first computer I bought was a PC.  I've used a PC for more than 30 years and I hate Apple people who keep telling me I should "just switch."  Apple drives me nuts.

14. What's your favorite things about the Zoo?
I don't like zoos where animals are locked up.  I like zoos like San Diego, where animals live in a more natural environment and the goal of the zoo is to preserve animal species that are in danger of extinction.

15. Did you grow up in the country, city or small town and what did you like about it (or hate about it if you didn’t like it?)
I was born and raised in San Francisco and I loved it.  It was a tremendous adjustment to move to a small suburban community. I couldn't believe there was no big "downtown."

16. What kinds of things were you into and do when you were growing up?
Scouting, ice and roller skating, swimming, spending lots of time in the library.

17 .Do you enjoy receiving letters or postcards more, and why?
Letters because you can have a conversation by letter and get to know someone better (by "letter" I also include "e-mail.")

18. Do or did you know any of your great-grandparents? Tell me about them.
I met my father's grandmother.  I only remember seeing her in a nursing home when I was about 4 and I was scared of her.  Sadly, I know nothing about her.

19. Do you like to be outdoors? What is your favorite thing to do there?
Not really.  After four months of quarantine, I have forgotten what it's like to be outdoors!

20. Have you ever broken a bone or been badly injured?
I have broken toes twice (both by dropping frozen meat on them) and dislocated a shoulder falling off my bike.  Otherwise, no.
