28 September 2019

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

 Shake It Off (2014)

Unfamiliar with this week's song. Hear it here.

1) This song makes Crazy Sam want to dance. What song inspires you to get on your feet?

In truth, the only thing that inspires me to get on my feet is having to visit the bathroom, or cook dinner.  Dancing is a thing of the past.

2) Paul McCartney met Taylor Swift at the SNL 40 Anniversary special and told her he really enjoys playing and singing this song. What's the last song you sang along with?

Hmmm....I can't remember.  I have had a couple of "ear worms" of tunes from shows we have seen recently, but nothing that I sang along to.

3) The lyrics tell us Swift "shakes off" nasty gossip and unfair criticism. What about you? Do you worry about what others think of you?

Always.  But I no longer fret about it.

4) Her parents are big music fans, and were going to name their baby (boy or girl) "Taylor" after their favorite artist, James Taylor. Can you think of a singer that your mom and/or dad really enjoyed?

My father was a HUGE fan of pianist Art Tatum and had all of his albums as well a a large collection of jazz piano records (he was a jazz pianist).  I don't know that my mother had a big favorite, but she liked Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Sinatra, and Tony Bennett.

5) She grew up on an 11-acre Christmas tree farm. Do you get a fresh tree every year, or do you have an artificial tree, or do you not put up a tree at all?

We've done it all.  Always had a fresh tree when the kids were little.  I lost interest in putting up a tree after David died, but we did.  After Paul died, the whole band came over to help us decorate a tree.  But over the years, I did less and less.  For a couple of years we didn't put up a tree at all, but I missed it so bought a tiny artificial one (about 3' tall) that we put up for 2 years.  Two years ago, I bought a larger one because the grandkids would be visiting.  With Ned and Marta now living here, I'm pretty sure we'll be putting up a fresh tree again.

6) Taylor Swift is 5'10". According to the CDC, the average American woman is 5'4" while men are, on average, 5'9". Are you taller or shorter than average?

I'm not sure how tall I am.  When I became an adult I was 5'7-1/2" for decades, but now that I'm old, I have shrunk and I'm not sure how tall I am.  I think I am 5'6".  All I know is that slacks that have fit me for years are now too long and I can't figure out what size to order.

7) She enjoys good, old fashioned mysteries, especially those by Agatha Christie. Are you currently reading a book for pleasure?

Well, it's not exactly for pleasure, but I'm reading a book called "Keeper: One House, Three Generations and a Journey into Alzheimers."  It is very good...and feels very familiar.

8) Her brother Austin is a freelance photographer who took the official pictures for her 2008 concert tour. Who took the last photo of you?

9) Random question: What's your go-to comfy outfit?

sweat pants, t-shirt, and fuzzy socks.

Blindfold for Lacie's "Game of Games" party tomorrow
