"THE" DAY

November 28, 2019

It is Thanksgiving morning.  I was up late last night making pies for our evening meal.  The "meal" will be subsantial hors d'oeuvres, including mini pumpkin pies, but I also made a regular size pumpkin pie to have for breakfast tomorrow morning.

I was watching the new DeNiro movie, the Irishman, which is a 3-1/2 hour movie which opened yesterday on Netflix.  I knew I wasn't going to make it through the whole thing and went to bed about halfway through and slept quite well all night.

Ned was up early, brewing coffee and making a wonderful fruit salad.

Marta had requested mini quiches, mimosas and bacon.  Ned couldn't find the mini quiches she likes, but she was able to find them at Safeway, so we had her choice for breakfast, with a choice of regular mimosas or "virgin mimosas" (orange juice with flavored sparkling water).

We are spending the morningwatching the Macy*s parade and then at 12:30 will head over to Sacramento to see the Mister Rogers movie.  Marta  thinks it's terrible that neither Walt nor I have been to one of the fancy new theaters with recliners and gourmet goodies.  I'm looking forward to all of it.

I baked a turkey breast yesterday and so we will return from the movie for turkey sandwiches, and hors d'oeuvres, like paté (I'll skip that one), potato puffs, a turkey canape and then my mini pumpkin pies.

Maybe we'll top off the day with watching this week's Survivor that we didn't see the night it was broadcast.

Quite a "different" Thanksgiving, but a much more pleasant one than last year, which had all sorts of problems, not the least of which was the "things" that Walt and I had which made it difficult to drive, walk, or sit!  But we're fine this year and enjoying the day.

I have been looking through old scrapbooks and picking out photos, which I am going to use for most of the Photos of the Day through December.
