Saturday 9: Don't Envy Me (1963) 1) What is it about you that you believe your friends and acquaintances envy?
If anything, it's probably the fact that we've been able to
travel so much.
Well, "envy" is a bit strong, but am glad that my friend Char
has made so many friends in the Adult Living facility where she lives and is
involved in so many things. It's the only thing that makes adult
living appealing to me.
We wrote two books about
The Lamplighters, a theater company in San Francisco. One to
commemorate their 25th anniversary and another a 10 year follow-up.
They wanted a third volume, since it has been more than 20 years since book
2 I agreed to "help" with it and then ended up being in charge, but
there were so many obstacles to overcome that after a year of planning, and
some interviewing, I finally gave it up. I'm sorry the project never
got done, but I was the wrong person to do that book.
No...my husband insists on going on vacation with me.
But we did get to Florence (I went twice) and enjoyed exploring.
I can't remember if I read the book or not, but I have
seen all three movies. My son Paul was passionate about it because he
was such a huge Robert DeNiro fan.
Walt took me back to Maryland to visit his mother. She
had a refrigerator that had one of those 'eggs in the door' things, where
you tilt the door down to get the eggs. I remember thinking once that
I wondered if anybody ever forgot to tilt the door back up again....and then
a day or two later, I DID, and all the eggs fell on the floor. Walt's
mother was cool. She just handed me towels to clean the mess up.
No. I have never had a tan. I'm Irish -- I burn
easily.
Ireland IS the land of my ancestors. We've been there
three times, I think. The first time we went by ferry from Wales to
Ireland and I had the strongest feeling, as the country began to come into
view, that I was making the trip for my great-great grandmother. I
just feel at home in Ireland, though I understand it has changed quite a bit
since I was last there (in 1996, I think)
Of course!! If the dog doesn't get to them first. |
