TACO TUESDAY

December 25, 2019

It was a quiet day.  One of the cable channels was showing White Christmas all day and so I saw most of it at least 3  times while I worked on getting my office organized, now that we have so many empty plastic boxes with lids around here.

It has long been tradition in Marta's family that on Christmas eve they have bean tacos for dinner.  We have been invited several years and we were happy to b e invited this year.  There were lots of stockings hung by the chimney with care

And Louise (Marta's stepmother) had set a beautiful table.

We had a delicious dinner and sat around afterwards hearing about Louise's dogs, especially the new corgi who really wanted to join us in the house (but is as reliable as Polly about peeing in the house!)

When we left the Wilsons, we drove out to see Derrick Bang's house, which almost always wins the prize for best decorated in Davis, for obvious reasons..

Derrick was the guy who hired me to be theater critic, when he was the entertainment editor at The Enterprise.  I haven't seen him in a year or more and so it was nice to see him again--and it's always fun to see his house each year!

When we left there, we drove by "Paul Plaza" (that's not its real name, but we've always called it that since they set aside a performing area with bricks inscribed to Paul's memory on the plaza).  I've been trying  to get a picture of the Davis Christmas tree at night, lighted up and this was my first chance.

We came home.  Ned and Marta got into the hot tub with some egg nog, Walt and I settled back to watch Jeopardy.

We have no cookies for Santa, and he's not coming to our house until Saturday anyway, so nothing left to do but go to sleep....
