5 November 2017

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser. Here we will steal all types of questions from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent questions. You may have heard the expression, “honor among thieves”. In that age-old tradition, we try to credit the blog that we stole it from, if possible. We also provide a link to the victim's questions in our "Previous Victims" widget. (It's our way of saying "Thanks!") Sometimes we edit the original meme, to make it more relevant to our global players, to challenge our players, to select the best questions, or simply to make it less repetitive from recently asked questions from a previously post. Cheers to all of us thieves!

This is another set of questions I found on SwapBot.

But first...Sheri, thanks for the suggestion of cranberry pumpkin crisps and pumpkin cream cheese!  Eating some as I write this...

{1} First thing you would do/buy if you won the lottery:
Well, this is really silly, but the day I got the cash, I'd run out to Home Depot and buy a ceiling light for our kitchen and hire a handy man to install it.  Then I'd think about something more serious.

{2} First person you call when you get amazing news:
Probably contact the kids--usually by text...and send an e-mail to Char.

{3} First thing you do when you've had a bad day:
Take a nap and hope it all goes away.

{4} First movie you went to without your parents:
I don't remember the main feature, but there was always at least one serial, and I remember the sci fi one (maybe Flash Gordon?).  We had to come back the next week to see the next chapter.

{5} First sport you played (Little League-style or in school):
Volleyball in high school.  I sucked.

{6} First major injury:
Not until 2000, when I had a bike accident and dislocated my shoulder.

{7} First product I use in the shower:
Shampoo

{8} First apartment or house on your own (away from you parents!):
I moved into a dorm at UC Berkeley (Char was the grad resident) and then into an apartment across from the old house where a bunch of guys from Newman Hall were living.  Then I got myself in debt and ended up moving in with Mike and Char, their baby daughter and mean cat, until I could pay down my bills.

{9} First Roommate(s)
First in the dorm was the terrible Judie.  I hated her and couldn't wait for the semester to end.  Then there was Jeannie, whom I liked a lot.  She looked like Mary Martin, had met Mary Martin, and played Peter Pan at the local Children's Fairyland.  We still exchange Christmas cards.  I'm afraid I wasn't a very good roommate for her--by then I was so ensconced at the Newman Center that I was rarely home.

{10} First Time Living Away from Home
When I moved into the dorm.

{11} First magazine subscription:
Oh lord, that was so long ago.  I can't remember but it was probably something movie-related.

{12} First real piece of jewelry you owned:
A friend of the family gave me an amethyst ring, my birthstone, for Christmas.  I was still in grammar school at the time.  I gave it to Char and Mike's daughter when she reached one of those landmark birthdays (maybe 16?).  That was very long ago (she's in her 50s now)

{13} First time staying home alone:
I have no idea, but I was rarely alone, since my younger sister would have been around too.

{14} First thing I reach for in the fridge:
Depends on what I'm planning to cook or eat.  Fruit or cheese if it's a snack.  The bag of ingredients from Home Chef if it's for dinner.

{15} First car accident or traffic violation:
The night I got my driver's license.  I convinced my mother to let me drive to car to my school to return something the nuns needed (my father was at work that night).  I was so tickled to show the nuns that I was driving alone that I didn't see the parked car I ran into.  I am ashamed to say I was a hit and run driver that night....and then lied to my father when he asked me about it.

Bonus:  Toilet paper, over or under?
Over.  Always over.  My friends Char and Michele had an ongoing battle about that.  Michele was over, Char was under and whenever they visited each other's houses, they would change the TP.  In all honesty, I didn't think I cared until their feud began, then I realized I was an over person.  I sometimes still change the TP in Char's house and I know that Michele (who died several years ago) is proud of me
