The "getting to know your friends meme"

1. What is your occupation right now? How long have you been there?
I have been professionally retired since 2003

2. Favorite rock band. Ever.

This one, of course:

3. What are you listening to right now?

It is 5 a.m. and the house is silent as a church.

4. Last person you spoke to on the phone. What was it about?

I talked to someone at the SPCA thrift shop about donating my mother's furniture after we move her next week.

5. How old are you today? Or make up a question. This one bites.

74 years, 3 months

6. What is your favorite sport to watch on TV?

Not a big sports watcher, but I do enjoy the Olympics, particularly springboard diving and equestrian events in the summer Olympics.

7. What is your favorite drink?

ice water

8. Have you ever dyed your hair?

In the early 1970s, I had visions of Maureen O'Hara's auburn locks and put a reddish rinse on my dark brown hair.  The result was a subtle purple.  I did not try dying again.

9. Favorite food?

Dungeness crab, just boiled and served with melted butter.

10. What is the last movie you watched?

The new Beauty and the Beast, which we saw when Caroline was visiting from England.

11. Favorite day of the year?

I don't think I have a favorite

12. How do you vent anger?

I eat

13. What was your favorite toy as a child?

I can't remember having a favorite toy, but I loved puzzles and board games.

14. Living arrangements? (Of course your pets count. Geez!)

Husband of nearly 52 years and I live in our empty nest with two dogs.

15. What was the last thing that you cried about?

I think I got teary about the team that came in first in last night's Amazing Race, but then, as I have said many times, I'm the kind of person who gets all emotional at super market openings and don't even show me a Hallmark card commercial!

16. Who is the friend you have had the longest?

Gayle, Lois, Judy and Sandy are friends from grammar school with whom I have reconnected in the past few years.

17. What did you do last night?

Sat home and watched the TV shows we had DVRed when Walt was not home the night before

18. What are you most afraid of?

Ending up like my mother, with dementia

19. In how many areas of your country have you lived? What's your favorite?

I have never lived out of California -- born in San Francisco, moved to ~four different places in the East Bay and finally moved here to Davis in 1973.  We have lived in this house for nearly 44 years.

20. What is your favorite flower? (Ugh. Quite the note to go out on. But hell, we steal the questions. I guess you get what you pay for.)

I like yellow roses for their look and NOT hot-house red roses for their smell. (The ones you get in a florist shop these days have zero perfume and are very disappointig)  I also love sweet peas, but I haven't seen any in years.  And for wild flowers, poppies.  Can't forget poppies!
