Sunday Stealing: The Shipwreck Questions

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing, which originated on WTIT: The Blog authored by Bud Weiser.....

Not that any of this matters to you, but WTF, you can skip ahead. In fact I imagine most of you did. Prove me wrong and add a comment by just saying “I read the stupid stuff." The long winded point is this: I got this meme site, now defunct shockingly, because all they did were memes “If you were stranded on an island…” and it was called The Ships Meme. Even I couldn’t make this shit up. They didn’t last long so we just stole some random questions and gave them a name. Our original title was “The Gilligan Island Questions” but then we figured that those of you were too young or would think it was about the show. So sorry, we won’t ask the Ginger or Maryanne question. So, for the first time this year of 2017 (get this - it is our 50th Anniversary Year of WTIT), I will raise my glass of Smirnoff and toast!

You are shipwrecked with friends (your group can include real life or virtual life or both) think about it and pick some friends to truly enjoy your cruise + and tell us why you assembled the group by just telling us...

Looking over these questions, I realize that to assemble a group, I'm going to have to have a very eclectic group of people with me!  (I have to admit this was not my favorite set of questions).

First of all HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!

Who would throw the wildest parties, and why did you pick them?
Definitely Ned.  Ned is a great party giver and I picked him because he's my son and you always want your children around you if you're going to be on a deserted island!

Who would always fall asleep on the couch, and why did you pick them?
Everybody knows the answer to this -- Walt, the champion sleeper!  I picked him because you don't want to be on a deserted island without your spouse.  (And BTW, how do we happen to have a couch on a deserted island anyway?)

Who would enter to be in a talent show, and why did you pick them?
Jeri, because she has so many talents.  And, like Ned, you want to have your children around you if you're on a deserted island.

Who would try to get out of doing their chores and why did you pick them?
Well, that would be me and I don't know why I'm there.

Who would accidentally set the kitchen on fire whilst cooking and why did you stupidly pick them?
That would be my mother.  I chose her because I don't want to go off and leave her while I'm on a deserted island.

Who would try to domesticate an island pet and why did you pick them?
I have to bring Ashley to this island.  She has been our pet sitter for years and has worked with animals through the SPCA for years.  I'll even let her bring baby Gabe and her dogs with her (and yeah, her husband too).

Who would make the other carry their bags on a shopping spree and why did you pick them?
If this is a deserted island, where are we going to go on a shopping spree?

Who would throw the first person off the boat and why did you pick them?
My cousin Clancy (fortunately) now deceased.  He once threw EVERYONE at a family reunion into the pool, including my then-80-something aunt.

Who would be the best caregiver when someone got sick & why did you pick them?
This is a difficult question to answer, but I kept thinking of my sister-in-law, Alice, and the care she took of her mother in her last days.  I would like someone to fight as hard for me as she did for her mother.

Who would try to force the another to play sports with them & why did you pick them?
Tom would be the sports guy (another kid I have to have with me on the island). He and Joe, my brother-in-law can be in charge of getting teams organized.  Tom would do it in a way that you wanted to join in, even if you thought you didn't.

Who would have the best holiday ideas for your space on the island and why did you pick them?
I think I'll give that job to my daughter-in-law, Laurel, who has all sorts of help from my granddaughters.

Who would need to clean out someone other's stuff to make room for their own & why did you pick them?
This is a weird question.  I'll chose my daughter-in-law Marta, who is great at cleaning out.  Not sure if it would be to put her stuff in.  How much stuff do we have, anyway, if we are shipwrecked?

Who worries about how they will look when they’re older & why did you pick them?
Back to my mother again.  At 97 she still worries if she thinks she looks "old."

Flashes everyone when they walk by after taking a shower alone & why did you pick them?
I don't know any exhibitionists like this.  Maybe my friend Merrell, also now deceased.  I'd pick her because it would be nice to see her again, in the buff or not.

Who wakes you to asks weird questions in the middle of the night & why did you pick them?
Nothing wakes me up in the middle of the night except my bladder and it doesn't ask questions.

Who will constantly ask you “what are you thinking about?” & why did you pick them?
Char, who wouldn't really ask this question constantly, but I wouldn't want to throw a party, especially on a deserted island, without her.

Which of your friends on this island might be too touchy-feely while you interact, why did you pick them?
If they are too touchy-feely, why would I want them on this island anyway?
