23 December 2017

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: Happy Holidays! (from the archives)

1. As you can see, Sam loved giving her annual wish list to Santa. Yet some children are reluctant to climb into Jolly Old St. Nick's lap. Did you enjoy the tradition or were you shy? Or did you by pass it altogether -- either because you wrote him a letter or because your family didn't celebrate Christmas?

Hey, I wasn't taking any chances.  I faced my fear, stood in line and sat in the jolly old man's lap and also wrote him a letter.

2. Are you currently on the Naughty or Nice list? How did you get there?

Oh, I'm on the nice list -- just too tired to be on the naughty list any more.

3. Did you ship any gifts to friends and family this year? If so, which one traveled the farthest?

No.  Not this year.  The only gift to go a long distance will be delivered after Christmas, by Tom, who will take it home to Santa Barbara for Walt's sister.

4. Did you buy yourself a gift this year?

Not yet, but I'm thinking of doing it, now that I have my IRA distribution check.

5. What's your favorite holiday-themed movie? Have you seen it yet this year?

My two favorite holiday-themed movies are White Christmas and Miracle on 34th Street and AMC ran both movies, back to back earlier this week.  I was in hog heaven.

6. Thinking of movies, Christmas is lucrative for Hollywood. Have you ever gone to a movie theater on Christmas Day?

I can't remember.  Probably not.  But we hope to see the new StarWars with everyone te day after Christmas this year.

7. Have you ever suffered an embarrassing moment at the company Christmas party?

I've always worked for very small companies and if there was a Christmas party at all, it was either in the office or at someone's house.  No embarrassing moments.

8. What's your favorite beverage in cold weather?

Just coffee.  I have recently re-discovered hot chocolate and am enjoying that now.

9. Share a memory from last Christmas.

I cooked my very first prime rib roast ($118!) and was terrified that I'd screw it up, but it turned out perfectly.  I would make another one this year, but it's even more expensive now and I think we will go with something else, probably leg of lamb, since I'm supposed to be at the movie all day and won't have enough time to do a turkey..

Also I had made a blanket for my mother with pictures of the family all over it and she really seemed to enjoy it, which thrilled me because she understands so little and recognizes so few people and watching her delight with it was great.

Remembering that makes me think that the blanket has disappeared since she moved into the memory unit and I'm going to have to search of it.  I'd hate to have it lost.

Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us next week for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your holidays!
