GOOD NEWS, BAD NEWS 24 March 2004 The weight at the bottom of this page hasnt changed in a long while. Well, its gone up and down by 2 lbs for weeks now. The truth is that this is actually the way my weight has been. And this is a good news, bad news sort of situation. The bad news is that Im not serious enough about watching what I eat that Im actually losing weight. The good news is that I feel guilty enough about it that Im not ballooning out of all proportion again. When I stopped going to Weight Watchers I stopped counting points. I kept photographing food (until Fotolog went all flaky on me--Im giving that a break for a week and hope that they get it under control), but I stopped counting points. Its so easy to eat too much when you dont write it all down. The good news is that Ive realized I have to start counting again. The bad news is that I probably wont start until we get home from Chicago...somehow right before we leave for Chicago with all the "gotta try" foods there seems like an exercise doomed to failure, so I will start counting again starting on Monday and lets see if I cant finally get that number to start moving again. The bad news is that I also havent been exercising consistently. Somehow I just get involved in things and before I know it, the day has passed and I havent done anything. The good news is that Barb and I went for a long walk today, probably five miles again. This time we were on my turf. We started at the bird sancutary on the bike path here and started walking. Originally I wasnt going to have us do the whole periphery--I know thats about 5 miles--but we just kept on walking and at one point wed kind of reached the point of no return--we were at about the halfway mark anyway, so we just continued on around the whole periphery. I didnt have my camera with me this time, which is too bad, because everything was in bloom and so beautiful. Makes me want to get on my bike tomorrow and do it all again, on a photo-shoot. We were both pretty exhausted--or our legs were anyway--by the time we got back to the car, but it felt good to have done the walk. The other bad news around here is that Scott didnt come by at all last week. When he was last here, he had just installed the gorgeous new sink and the end was so close. Hes been doing our project kind of in his spare time, since we were on no timetable whatsoever, so I didnt really worry about it, but I had hoped to have a working bathroom by the end of last week and that didnt happen. The good news is that he came today and....I we have a new floor!!!! Hell be back tomorrow to put in the grout and then all that is left is the new mirror and the baseboards and the clean-up. He says that by the time we get home from Chicago, it will be all finished. Did you read those words.... IT WILL BE ALL FINISHED!!! After....lord I dont even know how many years it has been....we have a bathroom again! Thats the best news of all. (Well, second only to the fact that I don't have to cook tonight--it's the last night
for The China House, which has been in operation in Davis for the last 16 yrs, and we are
going to go to dinner there. The bad news, of course, is that I will undoubtedly eat
too much.) |
