IT AIN'T MUCH BUT IT'S BETTER THAN NOTHIN' 20 January 2004 I nearly forgot about Weight Watchers this morning. Walt reminded me at about 7:20, when I wasnt even dressed yet. I usually go up at 7:30 and sit around kibbitzing with a few regulars Ive come to know a little bit until Chris starts the meeting at 8. The meeting goes until 8:30 and then at 9 there is another meeting. Well, by the time I got showered and dressed, I wasnt going to get to the 8 a.m. meeting and I had to be at work at 9, so I missed the meeting part, but just flew in to weigh. I lost 2 oz. Not exactly a lot, but better than it could/should have been. Maybe its getting back on the bike again, which is shaking up all those fat molecules. Yeah -- its time to start moving again. My arm is hurting less and less when I ride. It still hurts when I get on and I still take my arm off the handlebar if I can see Im about to hit a bump, but even when I jerk getting on at first, its not as sharp a pain. I have to admit that I think this is being good therapy for me. I also am ready to start back at Curves. There has been some talk around the office about Curves and, as the resident expert, I was giving a description of what happens there. I went on "sabbatical" when I had the accident and Ive been reluctant to start back again because of not want to "abuse" the arm. But today, as I started describing the machines that are used at Curves, I realized that there are only two, I think, which use arms, and the rest use other muscles. I suddenly realized that I probably could easily go back to Curves again. It would be nice if we could get a support group going there and go over to Curves in packs. I just need a gentle nudge to get me back started again. It must be the weather today. Its a lovely sunny day and I was out riding my bike and feeling good about life. I know its still technically the dead of winter, but there is a "spring" feel in the air today.
So...the word on the car... First, the police needed to find out from Walt whether or not he had, as the perp claimed, given his permission to let the guy drive the car (duhhh!). Then Walt called AAA today and the next step is that they have to send out one of their guys to check it out and determine what needs to be done. They say that will take "a couple of days." Then we get started doing whatever needs to be done to get it back in working order. In the meantime, Im biking to work...and its fun. If I hadnt biked this morning, I probably would have missed the dewey loveliness on the bushes near the bike rack... |
